Dear Parents and Friends of Camping Unlimited,

The nearly 100 acre Camp Krem facility is located about 60 miles from San Francisco, nestled in the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Camp Krem provides a residential camp program serving children and adults with disabilities. Camp Krem has ten rustic cabins, a large dining hall & multi-activity center, a modern infirmary, an arts & crafts center, and a large, specially-designed swimming pool. There is also a basketball court, playground, campfire arena, miles of nature trails and several primitive camping areas. Camping Unlimited-Camp Krem is accredited by the American Camping Association. We are also vendored by many Regional Centers all over California.

Campers live in small cabin groups of 6 -7 with their trained, caring Counselors. There are 3 to 4 counselors in each cabin. There is a 2:1 overall staffing ratio. Our dedicated staff is recruited from universities all over the United States and from several countries.

Campers are encouraged to choose activities for themselves from a wide variety of programs on a day-to-day basis, thus encouraging independent decision-making and freedom of choice for each camper. The programs and activities offered encourage socialization and independence. Campers build self-esteem while developing new skills and interests. Campers make new friends in a fun, supportive and safe environment.

Our staff includes the Executive Director, Camp Director, Program Director, Certified Recreation Therapist, Registered Nurse & Assistant. There is also an Aquatic's Director, Lifeguards, Arts & Crafts Specialist, Outdoor Camp Specialist, Travel Camp Director, Counselor Coordinators, Team Leaders and Volunteers.

Ask about our MANY YEAR-ROUND WEEKEND PROGRAMS that extend throughout the entire Bay Area. We will also offer Winter and Spring Travel Camp programs, popular fund raisers and community service opportunities. To become a Camping Unlimited member and receive our Year-Round Newsletter, "OPEN ROAD", that lists all upcoming events, please call or email our office.

CAMP KREM SUMMER PROGRAMS:
This 2007 season, Camp Krem will once again offer three unique types of programs that run simultaneously. Choose the program that best meets your camper's needs.

1. Main Camp: TRADITIONAL CAMP PROGRAMS FOR ALL: Swimming, hiking, arts & crafts, playground fun, campfires, nature study, dance, drama, music, sports, games, talent shows, field trips to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, visits to state parks or other exciting places. The hiking requirements and activities vary from session to session depending on itinerary. Campers sleep in small cabin-groups with their Counselors. Most meals are served family-style in our dining hall.

1. Outdoor Camp Adventure Program: TENT CAMPING! Swimming, fishing, beach combing, backpacking trips, outdoor cooking, nature crafts, games, sports, nature study and field trips off the property of Camp Krem. Campers enjoy the great outdoors gaining independence and self-esteem. Campers learn new skills while creating and planning activities. Campers should be physically capable of hiking uphill daily, ( about ¼ mile), follow simple directions, and have basic self-help skills.

3.Travel Camp: TENT CAMPING & TRAVELING! Campers, along with a travel team of directors and counselors often visit and stay at state parks all over California and beyond. Backpacking, sightseeing, outdoor cooking, camp crafts, swimming, possible boating or fishing are fun for all. In the past, travel campers have toured Monterey Bay, San Diego, Lake Shasta, Yosemite, Mendocino Coast, Lake Tahoe and Oregon. Exact destinations will be decided at a later time. Campers must be physically capable of hiking daily. Hiking requirements can vary. Contact our office to determine appropriate session. *(One travel session may be available for campers with limited mobility). All Campers must be able to follow simple directions, have good self-help skills and positive social behaviors.
